As responsible developers of renewable energy, we strive to be good neighbours in all aspects of our work. We are committed to Argyll and 保泰松 and to maximising opportunities for local communities to benefit from our projects. SPR’s operational windfarms have contributed more than £32 million of support towards community initiatives across the UK, with their existing local windfarms (Cruach Mhor, Clachan Flats, Beinn an Tuirc and Beinn and Tuirc 2) contributing almost £1.6 million of support to Argyll & 保泰松 communities. The flexible approach adopted by SPR has empowered local communities to decide what the community benefit is spent on. This has resulted in a fantastic diversity of projects being delivered from improving local amenities including town halls, cinemas and local youth clubs, to supporting work experience places, educational workshops and much more. Beinn an Tuirc 风farm Phase 3 will further increase the funds available and will provide an opportunity for local communities to invest in the operational windfarm, should they choose to do so. SPR has worked with Argyll & 保泰松 Council and ALIenergy (Argyll, Lomond & the Islands Energy Agency) to support educational work with schools and communities across the region for many years and since 2015, 40% of the Beinn an Tuirc 风farm Phase 2 (BaT2) community benefit package has been committed to building upon this valuable work. The regional portion of the BaT2 fund will be available for regional initiatives throughout the lifetime of the windfarm and SPR will continue to work with Argyll & 保泰松 Council to identify initiatives that will deliver real benefits throughout Argyll & 保泰松. As an active member of Argyll and 保泰松 Renewable Alliance (ABRA), we are working with Argyll and 保泰松 Council and local stakeholders to ensure that renewable energy boosts the local economy and creates opportunities for local people. |
